Buhler, KS - The Buhler Crusaders came back in the second half after being down 1-2 to beat Topeka Hayden with a final score of 3-2 to win their second regional championship in the past 4 years. Junior Jaylen Cherry and senior Cole Darling were the players who scored goals.
“It wasn’t our best game and wasn’t up to our standards that we have been playing, but last night's win just showed the town and the state how special this group of boys truly are,” said head coach Bransyn Felty about their comeback.
This was the Crusader's first time being down in the game and coming back to win.
“It was scary but we won,” said Center back Parker Freeman. “Jaelyn came through with a clutch goal, and Cole put one in. It felt good.”
The Crusaders are now 17-1 on the year. Buhler plays Mcpherson for the 4A State Quarterfinals on Tuesday at 6:00 at Crusader Stadium.
Ticket prices are $8 for adults and $6 for students. Passes are not accepted. For BHS students, their tickets will be covered by the BHS Booster Club. The student section theme for the night is flannel! Pick out your best plaid and come cheer on the Crusaders.
