PHMS Parents and Guardians,
As we have shared before, the safety of our students is a top priority. Open communication and transparency is also something we take seriously.
At the end of the day on Tuesday, December 13th, a student reported overhearing a conversation in the hallway. In this conversation, a PHMS student shared they had guns at home and could bring them to school. There was no specific threat made to students or staff. The students have not been able to be identified and the administration is continuing to investigate the situation. If your student heard this conversation and could have information regarding it, please contact the Hutchinson Police department and/or Buhler Schools immediately.
As a precautionary measure, law enforcement will be present at Prairie Hills Middle School tomorrow as we complete the investigation. USD #313 treats all incidents involving student safety with extreme concern. We encourage you to visit with your student about the importance of “if you see something, say something.” It is through relationships and open communication that we build trust and belief in our schools. Thank you for your continued support.

We are seeing an uptick of sickness in our buildings this time of year. Please remember to keep your student home if they are displaying the following symptoms
Nausea
Vomiting
Diarrhea
Body aches
Fever (24 hours fever free before return to school)
Teachers and staff will be placing some extra emphasis on hand washing, hand sanitizing, and other hygiene procedures to help slow the spread of the illnesses going around our community. Thank you for helping us keep students and staff healthy!

Leading up to Christmas break we really lean into the FUN! On Monday we have a LIVE Call in to Win show. Teachers and students can call in from their classroom phone to try and be the correct number caller and win treats for their class.

This year we started a new recognition award for staff who have gone above and beyond for staff, students, and/or community. You all came through (like always) with outpouring of support and appreciation for our staff. It is this partnership that makes Buhler so exceptional. We handed out a third of the nominations for November. In December and January, we will do it again!!
